Terms of Service
1. What Paird Is
Paird is a mentorship matching service that connects students, early-career professionals, and career changers with experienced mentors in their field. Paird facilitates introductions — it does not provide professional advice, career counselling, therapy, legal guidance, financial advice, or any regulated professional service.
Mentors on Paird are volunteers sharing their personal experience and perspective. They are not employees, contractors, or agents of Paird. Their guidance is offered in good faith but does not constitute professional advice of any kind.
2. Eligibility
To use Paird, you must:
- Be at least 16 years of age
- Provide accurate and complete information in your application
- Have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement
- Not be prohibited from using the service under applicable law
By submitting an application, you confirm that you meet these requirements. If you are between 16 and 18 years of age, you confirm that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these terms on your behalf.
3. The Application and Matching Process
Applications
Submitting an application does not guarantee a match or an introduction. Paird reviews every application personally and reserves the right to decline any application at its sole discretion, without obligation to provide a reason.
AI-assisted analysis
Paird uses artificial intelligence to analyse compatibility between mentor and mentee profiles based on factors including field, career goals, communication style, and availability. This analysis is used as a tool to assist human reviewers — it does not make final decisions. Every match is reviewed by a member of the Paird team before any introduction is made.
AI-generated compatibility scores and rationale are internal tools. They are not shared with applicants and do not represent a guarantee of fit or outcome.
No guarantee of match
Paird does not guarantee that any applicant will be matched with a mentor or mentee. The matching process depends on the pool of available applicants, profile depth, and Paird's assessment of compatibility. Applications may remain pending for an extended period or may not result in a match.
4. The Mentorship Relationship
Paird facilitates the introduction between mentor and mentee. Once an introduction has been made, the mentorship relationship is between the two individuals. Paird is not a party to that relationship and is not responsible for its conduct, outcomes, or continuation.
Mentor responsibilities
- Mentors agree to engage in good faith and with genuine intent to support their mentee's professional development
- Mentors must not use the relationship to solicit business, promote products or services, recruit for employment without disclosure, or engage in any conduct that could harm the mentee
- Mentors acknowledge that they are sharing personal experience and opinion, not professional advice
Mentee responsibilities
- Mentees agree to engage respectfully, arrive prepared, and honour their commitments to their mentor
- Mentees acknowledge that mentor guidance reflects personal experience and should not substitute for professional advice where that advice is warranted
- Mentees must not misrepresent their background, goals, or intentions in their application or in the mentorship relationship
No employment relationship
Participation in Paird does not create an employment, contractor, partnership, or agency relationship between you and Paird, or between mentor and mentee.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use Paird to:
- Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information
- Harass, threaten, or discriminate against any other user
- Solicit money, investment, or unpaid labour from a mentor or mentee
- Share another person's personal information without their consent
- Use the platform for commercial recruitment, advertising, or marketing without prior written permission from Paird
- Attempt to probe, test, or circumvent the security of any Paird system
- Submit automated or bulk applications
- Impersonate another person or entity
Violations of these terms may result in immediate removal from the platform and, where appropriate, referral to relevant authorities.
6. Data and Privacy
Your personal data is collected and used in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Key points:
- We collect name, email, phone number, school, career field, goals, and other profile information to facilitate matching
- We do not sell your data or use it for advertising
- Your profile information may be shared with a prospective mentor or mentee as part of a facilitated introduction — you will be notified before this occurs
- You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting hello@joinpaird.com
Data retention
Application data is retained for the duration of your participation in the Paird programme and for up to 24 months after your last interaction. Match records and internal audit logs are retained for up to 36 months for operational and safety purposes. You may request earlier deletion at any time.
AI and your data
Profile data submitted through Paird may be used as input to AI analysis tools to assess compatibility. This analysis is performed by Paird's internal systems using Anthropic's Claude API. Data submitted to AI analysis tools is governed by Anthropic's usage policies. Paird does not use your data to train AI models.
7. Subscription and Payment
Who is charged
Paird charges a subscription fee to mentees. Mentors participate at no cost.
Subscription fee
Access to Paird's matching service requires an active monthly subscription. The current subscription fee is displayed at the point of purchase and may be updated from time to time in accordance with the Price Changes section below. All fees are stated in US dollars and are exclusive of any applicable taxes, which you are responsible for paying.
Billing and auto-renewal
Your subscription is billed monthly on the same date each month from the date you first subscribe. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date. By subscribing, you authorise Paird (or its payment processor) to charge your payment method on a recurring monthly basis until you cancel.
Payment processing
Payments are processed by a third-party payment processor. Paird does not store your full card number, CVV, or banking credentials. Your payment information is handled in accordance with the payment processor's terms and security standards. By providing payment details, you authorise the processor to charge your method on Paird's behalf.
Failed payments
If a payment fails, Paird may attempt to recharge your payment method. If payment cannot be collected after reasonable attempts, your access to the service may be suspended until payment is resolved. You remain responsible for any outstanding amounts.
Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time by contacting hello@joinpaird.com. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You will retain access to the service through the end of the period you have already paid for. Cancellation does not entitle you to a refund for any portion of a billing period already charged.
No refunds
All subscription payments are non-refundable. This includes situations where you cancel mid-period, are not matched during a subscription period, or choose not to use the service after subscribing. Paird does not offer pro-rata refunds for unused time. If you believe a charge was made in error, contact hello@joinpaird.com within 14 days of the charge and we will review it.
Price changes
Paird reserves the right to change subscription pricing at any time. If the price of your subscription increases, you will be given at least 30 days' notice before the new price takes effect. Continued use of the service after notice of a price change constitutes acceptance of the new price. If you do not agree to the new price, you may cancel before the change takes effect.
Free trials
Paird may offer free trial periods from time to time. At the end of a free trial, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid monthly subscription unless you cancel before the trial ends. Details of any free trial will be communicated at the point of sign-up.
8. Intellectual Property
All content on joinpaird.com — including text, design, and functionality — is owned by Paird and protected by applicable intellectual property law. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any Paird content without prior written permission.
You retain ownership of any content you submit through Paird forms. By submitting, you grant Paird a limited, non-exclusive licence to use that content for the purpose of operating the matching service.
10. Disclaimers
Paird is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Paird makes no warranties, express or implied, regarding:
- The accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any match analysis or compatibility score
- The conduct, qualifications, or suitability of any mentor or mentee
- The outcome of any mentorship relationship
- The uninterrupted or error-free availability of the platform
Paird does not verify the professional credentials, employment history, or qualifications of mentors beyond what is self-reported in their application.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Paird and its team members shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the platform or participation in any mentorship relationship, even if Paird has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Paird's total aggregate liability for any claim arising under these Terms shall not exceed the total subscription fees you paid to Paird in the three calendar months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Paird and its team members from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your violation of these Terms, your submission of false or misleading information, or your conduct in any mentorship relationship facilitated by Paird.
13. Termination
Paird may suspend or terminate your participation at any time for any reason, including violation of these Terms, conduct that could harm another user, or discontinuation of the service. You may withdraw from the platform at any time by contacting hello@joinpaird.com.
Upon termination, your right to participate in Paird ceases immediately. You may request deletion of your personal data following termination.
14. Changes to These Terms
Paird may update these Terms from time to time. When material changes are made, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you should discontinue use and request deletion of your data.
15. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which Paird operates, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising out of these Terms or your use of the platform shall first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith negotiation by contacting hello@joinpaird.com.
16. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, that provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
